On Wednesday, June 6th, we have heard of two Residential Burglaries, one on north Lindbergh in A. M. and one in the 8500 block of Baumgarten around 2 P. M. To experience this happening to you can be more than "upsetting". It can be devastating. It breaks down your sense of security. You feel violated. Fear is followed by anger. You call 911, or your alarm service calls 911. You feel helpless when the burglar has left the scene, especially without anyone getting a description.
IF you witness a break-in taking place, tell the operator that "a crime is in progress", or that "a crime is taking place right now, next door to my house (#)", or that you "see a thief running from a house across the street (name & #) and he is wearing _________ and is about _____ tall".
ANY information may be helpful in the Police search for a criminal who may attack in a near-by area. This is what being a "Crime Watcher" means. We need to watch out for each other and be the eyes and ears for the Police officers who can't be "on the spot" at all times.
The Officer at the scene today warned about not opening the door to anyone you don't know. If you are at home alone, ask who it is through the closed door and pretend that you are talking to someone else inside the house. Just don't let them know that you are alone. They may try to come in the back way---or even the front door.

I live on Sweetwater Drive, and we had an attempted break-in around that same time. Not that long before that someone stole a bike from my garage while I was taking something to the front yard. I alerted my crimewatch after that happend. We are supposed to have crimewatch in our neighborhood, but I really haven't seen any affects from it. Seems to be in name only.

Barlowme, I'm likely part of that Crimewatch problem. We live on Rambling, and the area crimewatch has been in stasis a long time. There was a fellow in charge for six months or so, but I believe he moved away. April and I then volunteered to head things up, but at the same time, things heated up with Our Little Business.
I'm pretty sure they're looking for a new neighborhood crimewatch head, if you or one of your neighbors is interested. And, we're willing to put some Pegasus News coverage resources towards the effort as a guinea pig for things we can do in other communities as well.
