Dallas Challenge’s race for the cure merges ponies and problem-solving

Play the ponies while helping local kids. It's what gregarious curmudgeons have been doing in old movies for ages.

5th Annual Dallas Challenge Race for the Kids

— The Race for the Kids fundraising event for Dallas Challenge is scheduled for Friday, June 22nd at Lone Star Park. This event is sponsored in part by Ben E. Keith and CW33.

Terri Chappell from CW33 will emcee. Ticket prices include general parking, a race program, dinner, and live horse races to be viewed from a private balcony in the Champions Ballroom. There will be a live and silent auction. Dress code for the evening is dressy casual.

Locally-based actor/celebrity and international model Drew Waters will make an appearance and plans to auction off an item from the Lifetime original movie Inspector Mom where he played opposite Danica McKeller. Drew can be seen in Blonde Ambition starring Jessica Simpson which will be released theatrically nation-wide this August. He also starts filming Mad Money this June which stars Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes.

Dallas Challenge serves youth and their families primarily from low socioeconomic areas of Dallas, Denton, Rockwall, and Collin counties. Our youth are generally 8-22 years old with histories of substance abuse, juvenile delinquency, truancy, school failure and other high-risk behaviors. During this fiscal year, Dallas Challenge will directly serve over 6,000 youth and their families.
