Trophy Club Police Department citizens police academy begins June 14
Have you ever asked yourself, "isn't that illegal? Can they really do that?"
If so, and if you have a desire to work with the community, we have an event for you. The Trophy Club Police Department will be hosting a Citizens Police Academy beginning the 14th of June 2007.
The Citizens Police Academy will educate citizens about the structure of the Town's police services as well as the capabilities that we have or are available to us through different partnerships. The class willl touch on the differences between criminal and civil law as well as town ordinances. You will get both classroom and hands on with the anatomy of how police do traffic stops, crime scenes and building searches and more.
The Citizens Police Academy will also serve as the building block for a Citizens Police Academy Alumni, who if interested in volunteering with the town, can help the police department with many community service functions as an auxiliary within the Trophy Club Police Department.
If you want to just learn more about your Town and the workings of law enforcement within Trophy Club, this is the class for you. It also allows for the ability to volunteer with the Department if you so choose, but does not commit you to it. Please plan to attend and learn what our Police Department can do for you.
Classes will be held on Thursdays for 11 weeks from 6:30 p.m. till 9:30 p.m. at the Trophy Club Police Department. The 12th week will be a graduation dinner for those who complete the academy and have no more that two missed classes.
To be considered for the 15 positions within the academy, please contact Officer Scott Voigt at the Trophy Club Police Department or 682-831-4651 to sign up.
You must be a citizen or work within Trophy Club, be at least 18 years of age, hungry for vigilante justice, and you will be required to fill out an application form for a background check to be considered for the class. Also, please don't be really fat.
