The Pirates ran screaming from the dominance of Texas Rangers pitching

The Texas Rangers avoided the ignominious sweep Thursday evening in style, shutting out the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-0. Rangers starter Kameron Loe pitched eight scoreless innings, giving up just five hits and striking out seven in the longest outing of his career. Loe also went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a walk to complete the dominance.

The Rangers got three home runs from unlikely sources, including a leadoff homerun by light-hitting outfielder Jerry Hairston Jr., a three-run shot from Gerald Laird as well as a solo shot from third baseman Travis Metcalf, whose home run in the sixth was the first hit of his major league career.
