The first shooting occurred at 5:49 p.m. June 6, at the My-T-Quick located at 1422 Acton Ave.

“According to witnesses the victim, a 28-year-old Duncanville man, was in the parking lot when he was shot by a black female in her early 20s and described as 5’4” tall with a medium build,” Community Information Administrator Keith Bilbrey said.

Bilbrey reported the victim was conscious and talked with paramedics and officers before Duncanville Fire Department transported him to Methodist Medical Center in Dallas where he received medical treatment, but did not require surgery.

Witnesses said the suspect ran west across the street and behind a retail shopping center. Witnesses also believed the victim lived in a town home complex about a block away.

“Duncanville officers and SWAT team members responded to the area of Sunset Village Drive and Dawn Drive to check three homes in that area. After checking one of the homes and failing to find the suspect, they began checking the house at 418 Dawn Drive,” Bilbrey said.

While securing the home, two male suspects were seen looking out the window and were ordered out of the home.

After talking with the two males, contact was made with the suspect inside the home and negotiators were able to talk the suspect into giving herself up, Bilbrey said.

Crystal Dominique Robinson, 21, was arrested in connection with the shooting. While she does not have a permanent residence in the city, Bilbrey said she has a few Duncanville addresses where she stays on a regular basis.

“The suspect was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and given a $100,000 bond,” Bilbrey said. “Preliminary investigation suggests the shooting may stem from an altercation that occurred at a nearby apartment complex over a month ago.”

The charge is a second-degree felony with a punishment of two-20 years imprisonment and/or a fine not to exceed $10,000.

At 5:09 a.m. June 8, Duncanville police responded to a burglary call in the 200 block of Martin Luther Circle.

Thirty-five-year-old Derrick Johnson reported to police that he had been sleeping when he heard someone ransacking his home.

“The resident confronted the suspect and the two exchanged gunfire. The suspect fled the home and the resident called police,” Bilbrey said.

Shot once in the right lower abdomen, the resident was transported to MMC where he underwent surgery.

At 6:16 a.m., a witness advised police they had seen someone going into the field at 300 S. Cockrell Hill Road, where police found a suspect laying in a tree line just off the road suffering a gunshot to the left pelvic area. He also was transported to MMC, Bilbrey said.

Police recovered a gun inside Johnson’s home and at the location where the 21-year-old suspect was found.

Charles Washington of Dallas was arrested and charged with burglary and given a $100,000 bond.

After being treated at MMC, he was transported to Lew Sterrett Justice Center.

At press time, Johnson was reported to be recovering well from surgery.
