Leppert wins runoff to become mayor of Dallas
He's not gay, so the rest of the world can go back to not caring who we elected for mayor.
DALLAS Tom Leppert was elected mayor of Dallas in Saturday's run-off election, winning 58 percent of the vote to Ed Oakley's 42 percent.
By 10 p.m. Saturday, Oakley conceded, while Leppert celebrated his win at Gilley's with a crowd that the DMN described, oddly, as "dressed in business casual." They had on, what, Docker's? Great to know what Leppert's supporters were wearing, eh?
With the "gay mayor" angle gone, the most interesting factoid left for media to report was that a lot of cash was outlaid, that "more than $5 million was spent" among all candidates, that it was "the most expensive mayoral race in Dallas history."
