McKinney creates new cheerleading overseer position

Email Print Tell us your story Comment (1)

— McKinney has created a new coordinator position to oversee the cheerleading program at its three high schools and four middle schools, and hired McKinney High School cheerleading coach Tami Hines to fill it.

She'll set up new rules, create a training program, and continue to coach the McKinney High squad. The city is trying to repair the damage from last year's cheerleading scandal, when the girls on the squad went nuts with the drinking and the salacious MySpace photos and the parents getting involved, with coach Michaela Ward eventually quitting out of frustration and principal Linda Theret being ousted.
