Admittedly, this news is a tad old. But Nasa astronaut James Reilly, who calls Mesquite his home, completed last Monday his fourth spacewalk mission aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis.

On June 11th, Reilly (who also holds three degrees from the University of Texas at Dallas) and fellow astronaut Danny Olivas undertook a 6 hour, 15 minute spacewalk, during which they made final attachment of bolts, cables and connectors, and began preparations for deployment of the solar panels on the ship which will be used track the sun and provide the ship with energy.

Atlantis launched from the Kennedy Space Center at 7:38:04 pm EDT on June 8, 2007. Since then, it has achieved mucho national attention after a four-by-six inch tear was found in its external thermal blanket. In reality, I have bigger tears than that in my thermal underwear.

Click here for some sweet, sweet video of Reilly's June 11th walk.
