Unwanted customers at Dallas liquor store
DALLAS So I was driving home from work on Friday when I stopped at Sonny's liquor store on Inwood near 35 when I notice this guy wander in before me.
Fortunately I had my trusty cell phone-camera and managed to get a couple pics.
You know I don't really mind standing in line (especially on the way home on Friday) but when whoever's in front of me isn't even buying anything, just pecking at a 2 liter soda bottle....
Ed Note: If you find wildlife in your local store, snap a picture and send it to us. We can't get enough of this kind of stuff! You can always submit photos, video or news stories here.

I live in the Midway Hollow neighborhood of north Dallas (between Marsh Ln and Midway, south of Walnut Hill) and for the last 2 weeks I've had 4 cranes (grey in color) roosting about in my trees and hanging out underneath my daughter's trampoline. The only thing I can come up with as to why they would be hanging around is that the construction going on in and around Bachman Lake (around 2 miles to the southwest of me) has pushed them out of their habitat. It is really odd to look up on the power lines and see 4 huge birds like that. I'd love to see a neighborhood cat mess with one of these.

FWIW, the liquor store visitor is a Great Egret. There's a good-sized rookery right off Inwood and Butler, with Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Little Blue Herons, Black-crowned Night-Herons, et al. That's probably where it wandered in from.

Thanks for the ID, Scott.
If you drive I-35 everyday, like me, then you've probably noticed dozens of them flying around the Inwood exit all the time. It's almost like they're mocking us hurried, worried humans as we scurry down the highway (when traffic permits scurrying) to the next appointment or whatever as they lazily come and go.
I've been known to park at Sonny's and just sit on the ledge- when the weather or the panhandlers aren't being too oppressive- and just watch them for a while.
It's no doubt a much healthier stress reliever than the whiskey I was buying when I encountered this one.
