Concert Review and Photo Gallery: Bless the Broken

The reaction that this band gets from its fans is simply amazing (not to mention the ability to draw huge crowds).

Dallas's own "heart-rock" group Bless The Broken played Saturday night to a near-packed house at the Curtain Club. In case you haven't heard of them before, I would say that they sound like Underoath meets The Heroine meets 36 Crazyfists with their own personal touch added. The 5-piece band is composed of members Bucky (Vocals), Traci (Bass), Robbie (Guitar), Sean (Keys) and Brian (Drums).

This was my second time seeing this local favorite and they certainly did not disappoint. It was only a few months ago that a family member suggested I attend one of their shows (having a hunch that I might like them). After that show I immediately purchased their debut release "Make Me The Martyr" and can say that that the CD was just as rewarding as the live show.

The band took the stage on Saturday at around 12:45 AM to a crowd that seemed to go crazy almost instantly. The reaction that this band gets from its fans is simply amazing (not to mention the ability to draw huge crowds). Shortly into the set the band announced that they would be letting their friends "The Heroine" come on stage to play a song. Bucky explained that the guys from The Heroine had driven up from San Antonio to play at another club that night and were told upon their arrival that the show was canceled. They were quickly added to the bill at Curtain Club but according to Bucky the crowd wasn't near as large that early in the night and he wanted everyone to hear them. (Hospitality at its finest, in my opinion).

After re-claiming the stage Bucky drew emphasis to the importance of supporting local music by attending local shows and trying out new bands. The band then continued to belt out song after song. The sound, performance, energy and crowd were all great. From the upper level I was able to see the mosh-pit that seemed to have the venues security staff quite nervous (not to mention a few fights that had to be broken up). The fans seemed to know every word to every song that was performed, yelling them back at the band as the performance went on.

The set lasted about 1 hour and was complete with a loudly applauded encore. After the show many of the fans stuck around to meet the band, congratulate them on a great show and get their CD's autographed.

I have rarely seen the kind of following for an unsigned, local band that I have witnessed for Bless The Broken. They seem to continually draw huge crowds and their fan-base will definitely continue to grow and grow. I would strongly recommend checking them out at www.myspace.com/blessthebroken and catching one of their phenomenal live shows the next time they play in your area.

I am from Oklahoma. I went to my first BTB show back in midsummer of 2005. I loved the band instantly. Never before has a band captivated my heart they way they did. I have never seen a band that performs as well as they do live.I will be the first to admit that after the first show I made it a point to drive the 2 1/2 hours every other weekend to see them. It saddens me that I have had to miss so many shows. I can say that I have met and spoken to Bucky on several occassions. He is an absolute sweetheart. He even offered to let me and a few friends stay at his place since we drove so far to see him. Unfortunately we didnt take him up on his offer, which was probably a mistake.

I have personally have started a craze for the band here. We look forward to hearing anything new about the band, and greatly appreciate your article. I would have to say that it is one of the better pieces that I have read on them. If you ever have anymore reviews, please send them my way. Thank you so much.

I love you BTB!! You have a fan for life.
