Easter Seals North Texas initiates employment program in Dallas

DALLAS — Easter Seals North Texas has begun providing employment services for people with disabilities in the Dallas area. The initiative is one of the first of many expansions planned resulting from the merger June 1 of the Fort Worth and Dallas affiliates.

Jan Daniels, Vice President of Workforce Development at Easter Seals, says “We match individuals who have talents and abilities with the best full-time or part-time job, based on the employee’s preferences and the employer’s specific needs.

“People with disabilities represent a largely untapped pool of qualified employees in a labor market where the need for talent surpasses the number of people available to fill jobs.”

People enrolled in this program also receive additional training in job-seeking and job-readiness skills, such as resume writing and interviewing techniques.

“This is a win-win solution for employer and employee. More than 200 local businesses have benefited from our services and we are looking forward to expanding into the Dallas market,” says Monica Prather, President and CEO of Easter Seals North Texas. “Employers are concerned about the shrinking labor pool and are interested in the fact that people with disabilities are a relatively untapped source of qualified employees.”
