Various news outlets Friday morning are reporting the scant details surrounding the discovery of David Honish's body. Late Thursday night, police came upon a white Ford F-150 parked, but still running, on the side of Highway 377 in Flower Mound. Inside was Honish, 52, with a fatal bullet wound to the head. While CBS 11 is reporting that Honish had convictions on his record for assault and weapons possessions, the DMN has noted that he was also a well-known peace activist in the Denton area.
A google search of Honish's name leads to the website Peace Action Denton, where Honish has some articles* and events posted (dated in 2006) concerning his work with Veterans For Peace. He is also featured in an article in the North Texas Daily from 2004 about his participation in a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day march.
Despite limited information at the present, police do not believe that Honish committed suicide.
UPDATE: Flower Mound police arrested David Honish's brother, Mark Francis Honish of Trophy Club, Friday morning. He is believed to be connected to the murder, but no reports have specifically stated yet whether he is considered a suspect.
2ND UPDATE: There is now additional reporting that David and Mark Honish were involved in a "sibling feud" for some time. Also, when police arrested Mark Honish, they found blood on the running board of his truck and the tire treads matched those left at the scene.
