MISD cheerleading squads snag top honors at National Cheerleading Association camp

C'mon ladies. Let's stay out of trouble this year.
Varsity, junior varsity and freshman cheerleading squads from all three McKinney ISD high schools recently attended the National Cheerleading Association’s (NCA) summer camp at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and captured several awards. The squads attended the camp June 7 through June 10.
McKinney Boyd High School had three squads; varsity, junior varsity and freshmen attend the camp. The varsity Lady Broncos won six Superior Evaluation ribbons, the Herkie Team Award, the Stunt Smart Award, the NCA Champion Chant 2007 Award, the NCA Nationals Bid honor and a Spirit Stick.
Three cheerleaders from the squad were named All-American Cheerleaders including Haley Chandler, Abbey Goodspeed and Ashley Minei.
The junior varsity squad from McKinney Boyd High School won the Performance Top Team in Small Junior Varsity award, a Superior rating on their Final Evaluation, a Spirit Stick, an NCA Nationals Bid and the Herkie Team Award.
The McKinney Boyd Broncos freshmen squad won the Performance Top Team Award in the Junior High/Freshmen Division, four Superior Ribbons for cheer and chant evaluations, a Spirit Stick and an NCA Nationals Bid. The entire squad was also nominated for All-American Cheerleader.
Three cheerleaders from the freshmen squad, Taylor Owen, Katie Blodgett and Lauren Branson were awarded the All-American Cheerleader award.
McKinney High School had two squads; varsity and junior varsity attend the NCA camp. The McKinney High School varsity squad won three Spirit Sticks, six Superior Ratings on Evaluations, an NCA Nationals Bid honor and a Game Day Top Team in Medium Varsity Division award. In addition, three cheerleaders from the squad, Vanessa Appiah, Jessica Carver and Maddy Wilson won the All-American Cheerleader award.
The McKinney High School mascots, Ashley Kim and Emily Warren also won the All-American Mascot Award.
Individuals who received the All-American Cheerleader award from the McKinney North High School varsity cheerleading squad were Bria Stewart, Ali Durbin and Amanda Ybarro. Mirria Martin and Stephanie Surovik also received the All-American Mascot Award.
The McKinney North junior varsity squad won a Spirit Stick and six Superior Ratings on Evaluations. In addition, Kourtney Bailey was awarded the All-American Cheerleader award.
McKinney North High School also does not have a freshman cheerleading squad this year.
