Air traffic controllers say that shortage of staff is tying up skies in Dallas-Fort Worth

0

The National Air Traffic Controllers Association tells Aero-Net News that a shortage of air traffic controllers at Dallas-Fort Worth airports is slowing down traffic.

The union does a tally of how many controllers there are at each facility, versus how many it thinks should be there. Take Love Field, which currently has 18 controllers on staff. The union says the facility needs 24. But the FAA says "19 to 23" is sufficient.

Aside from the lack of agreement about how many controllers are needed, the story reveals that a surprising number of controllers around the area are retiring: six from the DFW tower, 15 from the DFW Terminal, and 10 to 15 from the Fort Worth Air Route Traffic Control Center.
