Mural in Frisco that took 3 months to paint was vandalized

— A mural by the gazebo in old downtown Frisco that the Visual Arts Guild of Frisco members have been painting since April was vandalized by someone who left only a shoe print as evidence. Sounds like an episode of Columbo!

"I'm no art expert, but have you considered the possibility that the brown streak makes the mural look better, not worse?"
"I'm no art expert, but have you considered the possibility that the brown streak makes the mural look better, not worse?"

Of course the person who did it is a scoundrel, and vandalism of any kind is pointless and intolerable, and it's unkind to laugh at the misfortune of others, and the lady who runs the Visual Arts Guild of Frisco has a pretty good sense of humor about it all. Nonetheless, if you take a look at the mural, you might notice that it's kind of a sappy landscape and so you could see that a cynical person might be amused by the streak of brown paint now despoiling it.

The Visual Arts Guild of Frisco and the Frisco Garden Club had planned a party on July 14 at 6 p.m. to mark the mural's completion. They're probably going to go ahead with it anyway. In Columbo, the criminal always returns to the scene of the crime, so it seems like an opportune time to catch the shoe-wearing vandal. Meanwhile, if you know anything about the crime, you can call the Frisco tip line, 972-292-6090. Or if you want to leave information anonymously, call 972-292-6200.
