TECH Fort Worth client receives $600,000 from Texas Emerging Technology Fund
FORT WORTH Resonant Sensors Incorporated (RSI), a client of TECH Fort Worth, has been awarded $600,000 by the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (ETF). The money will be used for further development and commercialization of its new class of sensors for use in the production of biomedical compounds and drugs.
RSI’s sensors can detect and quantify substances and chemicals in air or liquid faster and more accurately than other methodologies. These revolutionary sensors, based on technology invented during the past 15 years at the University of Texas at Arlington, initially will be applied in cost-effective, high-accuracy drug discovery systems for research laboratories and the pharmaceutical industry.
“Resonant Sensors is a good example of how regional resources can combine to bring new technologies to the market,” said Darlene Ryan, Executive Director of TECH Fort Worth. “With its technology and a feasible business plan already in place, the company was an ideal candidate for our Acceleration Program. During this phase of the company’s development, our goal is to help the founder build management capabilities, infrastructure, outside advisers and funding."
The $200 million Texas Emerging Technology Fund was signed into law in June 2005 by Governor Rick Perry to assist small, early-stage technology companies in expediting the commercialization of new, high-potential technology developments out of the lab and into the hands of consumers.
