Video coverage: White Rock Lake spillway
Worth the wet feet? You be the judge.
Since I live more or less nearby, I decided to detour this morning to the White Rock Lake spillway to see what was coming down the chute. (Answer: water. And lots of it.)
In order to get into decent filming position I was forced to wade through some goodly puddles, thereby getting my feet rather wet; I'm billing PegNews management for time spent changing my socks at home afterward.
As you'll see, a two-man video team from NBC5i was set up on the grass under a deluxe tent, kicked back in lawn chairs and shooting the breeze while millions of gallons of water roared past. They had a big hi-def vid-cam on a tripod; I had a shirt-pocket digicam. But I was mobile.

Ha. The camera guys looked very uncomfortable at being on camera. An irony wrapped in some schadenfreude.

Hey, this gave me a great idea: what if we started following some local reporters like paparazzi? :)

Every time it rains, news cameras go scurring to the spillway. Think about the word "spillway." It sounds like a path for milk and cereal, meaning, "not that exciting". I heard some talk ealier that someone was going to re-design that area of the lake. I really hope they re-design the spillway so that when it rains we can rename it "White Rock Falls" or "Dallas' Class 5 adventureway" or something.

I think that Pegasus should do an aggregated link story about what D thinks about the Observer's coverage of Pegasus's coverage of a bunch of lazy NBC5 camermen shot by a guy with a camera watching the spillway for the umpteenth time.
Then I'd have something to blog about elsewhere.
