Wingstop Restaurants Inc. announced today that Bruce Evans has been promoted to Vice President of Franchise Recruitment. Since joining the company in 2001, Evans has been an integral part of Wingstop’s rise from a regional brand to the nation’s recognized leader in the buffalo-style chicken wing segment, operating more than 550 locations open or under development nationwide.
Over the past six years Evans has directed the chain’s US franchise sales effort and sales staff which, during that time, has added more than 500 stores to the system. Evans’ team identifies, recruits, qualifies and consults prospects.
“When I first began at Wingstop we were a 50-unit franchise chain,” said Evans. “Today we are in 27 states and expanding at a record rate. I’m proud to have had the opportunity be an integral part of this company’s growth and I look forward to taking our product to new customers in many more markets. We have tremendous opportunities ahead.”
Evans served as Wingstop’s Franchise Development Coordinator in 2001 and was promoted to Director of Franchising in 2003. For the past year he has worked as Senior Director of Franchise Recruitment. Prior to joining the Wingstop team he was a Kitchen Manager with Pappasito’s Cantina and served for four years in the Army.
“As we continue to grow the Wingstop system and expand aggressively throughout the US, we need strong franchise leadership within the company,” said Jim Flynn, President and CEO of Wingstop Restaurants, Inc. “Bruce’s expertise in franchising will play a key role in that growth.”
Due to Wingstop’s popularity and surge of franchisees joining the brand, systemwide sales have grown from $11.9 million in 2000 to $150 million in 2006, moving up on Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 ranking of all leading franchise brands from 336 to 89 between the years of 2001 and 2005. On June 11, the company announced that it had sold its one billionth wing.
