Dallas-based Brinker makes list of Top 100 Retailers
Brinker International was one of a number of restaurants to make the list of Top 100 Retailers in STORES, the magazine of the National Retail Federation.
The Washington Post hypothesizes that the surge of restaurants on the list is due to the fact that food is a more important part of shopping especially with all these West Village-type "lifestyle centers" that every town in the U.S. of A. wants to have.
Brinker, owner of Chili's and Macaroni Grill, came in at No. 73. Other restaurants on the list include Mickey D's at #16, Yum Brands (Pizza Hut, Taco Bell) at #35, and Starbucks at #42, and Darden Restaurants (Red Lobster, Olive Garden) at #53.
The top 5, if you're wondering: Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Kroger, Costco, and Target.
