You know, I think the new format at KZPS is light years better than the old one. Of course I would think that. I just wish I could listen for a straight half an hour without having to hear Bob Seger again.

I've noticed more and more traditional classic rock slipping back into the rotation over time. Aerosmith, Zeppelin, etc. In heaviest rotation of all is Skynyrd and SRV.

I think it is a great rotation. Anything with dirty, greasy guitar work is great. If it is dirty, greasy, bluesy southern rock so much the better. And even a few boys from across the pond can play the latter.

Even though they're not from Texas, I think Led Zeppelin's "When The Levee Breaks" could actually qualify (temporarily-I hope) as "Lone Star" music.

Call it "Gallows Pole" and I'm with you. And judging from what I hear on KZPS, they are too.

Anyone know where i can find a list of the full line-up/performance times for this show? i wanna plan my day so as to not miss any of my faves. The 92.5 website seems to be lacking pertinent info. And yeah, i too have noticed the slide toward classic rock lately. Don't they know we've heard those songs 314,159 times already? Oh yeah...Clear Channel...payola...'nuff said.

Jeff,
As you pointed out, their website is lacking that info, so I have put in an email asking for more information. Sometimes, these all-day long shows will not publicly release the the set times because they want people to stay the whole time and not just for the headlining acts. I don't know if that's the case here, just speculating.
I tried to look up some of it individually for ya, but there is conflicting information. Judging from band websites, it looks like Boys Named Sue will go on at 1:30 and that Eleven Hundred Springs go on at 3:00. At first I thought The Drams went on at 8:00, but then the Old 97's also have 8:00 listed for themselves. After that debacle I gave up. :)
If I hear back from the email I will certainly let ya'll know. If anyone else has information, we would certainly appreciate the shared knowledge.

Update on my last comment: I received an apologetic email stating that the set times cannot be released, but that they would be posted at the event. Sorry all. May this ZZ Top pic appease you:

KNON 89.3's Texas Renegade Radio show is the original mix-em-up format. Especially the Friday show. Been going since around 1982, in the same time slot. Everything from Hays Carll to Commander Cody. No classic rock stuff, except of the cosmic cowboy variety. It comes on 4-6 pm M-F. Was alt-country and alt-alt before the term was invented, back from the Super Roper Revue days.

Thanks for trying, Erin. We got there at 1:30, and Boys Named Sue had already started kickinass. i posted some pics at my flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nffcnnr/ The Bottle Rockets were definitely the loudest band on the side stage, and the most rockinest of any band all day/night. My head still feels like it's got a reverb spring in it from standing too close to them. The Drams were right on. Brent Best & Co. provided my favorite performance on the main stage. i'd never seen the Old 97s from that far away before, but they seemed to hold the crowd's attention, even though i thought they kinda phoned it in. Drive By-Truckers were great, even without Jason Isbell, but his absence kinda hung over their performance, IMO. At least they still have Cooley. Shooter Jennings was as boring as David Allen Coe, but at least DAC provided some entertainment when he fell down and got back up - WTF?. When ZZ Top came on, i was dead tired, but they really energized me with their musicianship and stage presence. i definitely appreciate them more now. i had never seen them before, and didn't expect much. i was pleasantly surprised and sufficiently rocked. Thanks to Lone Star 92.5 and everyone involved, it was a spectacular day. i just wish they would have let me keep the plastic bottle cap when i bought $4 bottles of water. Again, WTF? Next time, i'll bring my own bottle cap.
