TrinityVote collects 166% of the signatures necessary to create a Trinity Vote
DALLAS I got a text message this afternoon that there would be a TrinityVote press conference at City Hall. We didn't have enough people to send someone down, but word is that TrinityVote came up with 80,000 signatures demanding a new vote on the Trinity River development plans.
So get ready to voooooote!

This plan was 9 years in the making. Now, suddenly, people with zero idea what the 'Trinity Plan' is (or even WHERE it is) are the citizen conspiracy theory public defenders...like those who were no where near Paris claiming Princess Diana was pregnant and murdered. As those fools waiting to charge that IPhone on their MasterCards (priceless) said yesterday, after long hours in line, "How much longer must I wait".

Trinity River: floods in 1908. 1912 Kessler plan has a solution. 1930, Trinity River Canal Association tries to figure out what to do about it. The 50s? Trinity Improvement Association. The 60s? Trinity Basin Bill. On and on and on. Right now smells like 1973 somehow, although I am sure someone can give me all the reasons why it's TOTALLY DIFFERENT.
Maybe what we need to realize is that Dallas can't decide on what to do with this place and the only constant is ongoing complaining and real estate speculation. Here's to another 100 years of indecision!

The only reason it's taken nine years is because of the tollroad issue.
No one would have a problem with this, other than the cover-ups, changing the plan time and time again,putting a high-speed tollway inside the levee instead of a parkway meant to enhance the project. And why? So a bunch of people that own land along Industrial can get rich using public funds.
How in the world can anybody support a project that wants PRE-KATRINA flood standards?
A lot of naysayers have no idea how long this has been in the making. I read hundreds of pages and every briefing I could find before I supported the effort. Many others did as well.
Do you know that people were still bringing up handfuls of signed petition after we took in the boxes.
But it's cool. I don't care what haters think about TrinityVote. We got our signatures (verified before they were submitted). And now the supporters of the current plans have to get their 80,000 votes. Good luck with all of that.
If they stuck to the original plan, no one would have a problem. Make it a flood-control and recreation project, not a road project.
