That lobster won't hunt.

Hunt Private Equity Group, Inc. announced the acquisition of Poseidon Enterprises Inc., one of the largest privately held seafood distributors in the U.S. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Poseidon Seafood is a distributor of a complete line of fresh and frozen seafood with a full range of products, packaging and distribution capabilities to food service and retail establishments throughout the Southeast. Through Poseidon’s subsidiary, Bright Water Seafoods, the company prepares crab cakes, smoked seafood, seafood spreads, salads, dips and other ready-to-eat seafood products.

Poseidon, founded in 1986 by the LaVecchia family, will remain headquartered in Charlotte.

Hunt Private Equity Group is one of the Dallas-based private equity groups affiliated with Hunt Investment Corporation, which is part of the Hunt Consolidated, Inc. family of companies of which Ray L. Hunt is the company chairman.
