So, does Queen pop into your head too when you think of Deep Ellum, you know, "Another One Bites The Dust?" Just got an email half an hour ago indicating that the Galaxy Club is now the next in line for the chopping block in Deep Ellum. In fact, word is that it's already closed! Evan Martin, bassist in Machine Gun Hand, who was supposed to play at the Galaxy Club on Friday, posts news of the closing in his band's bulletin:
God, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just got a phone call from Big Mike, the promoter who set up tomorrow night's show at the Galaxy. He said due to some financial things, Galaxy Club has closed up shop - meaning the show for tomorrow has, at least for the time being, been cancelled.
To see if I could confirm this, I called the office and booking line at the Galaxy Club which is "temporarily disconnected." The club's MySpace, nor its official website, have been updated to reflect the possibility that it's done.
At this time (11:34 p.m.) we don't have any more information or an official confirmation. If anyone has heard anything more about this feel free to leave a comment. We will get more details to you as we learn them.
Thanks to 1000 Miles From Home for the lead.
