Family sues Country Day School of Arlington over intentions to become a charter school
Terrell Sullivan and Jennifer Spaulding are the parents suing the Country Day School of Arlington. Country Day announced last year that due to financial troubles, the school would likely be converting to a public charter school for the 2007-08 school year. Sullivan and Spaulding are suing the institution claiming that they did not know the school would be converting when they paid tuition for their daughter's first grade year... for the 2006-07 school year.
The parents are claiming that if they had known this could happen, they "might" have sent their daughter elsewhere, even though she has been attending Country Day since she was 18-months-old. Meanwhile the school is claiming that it did not withhold information regarding its intentions to convert to a charter program, but made the announcement when it was "a fact." Furthermore, the school contends that it will not begin the charter school format until the '07-'08 school year, so families that have paid tuition through this school year are still paying for that "private school education."
Ok, I can't hold it in anymore. These things happen, so just find another school for next year! Can't you just be glad that you can afford private school, and apparently afford a bogus lawsuit, as well? Goodness.
