Dallas mayoral interviews

Dallas mayoral candidate Gary Griffith spent over 45 minutes with us in an interview earlier this week explaining how he could help Dallas. During the discussion, we talked about:

-Why Griffith chose to run for mayor

-One word: "cheese"

-What Griffith will look to in order to assess whether the city is making progress on the "cheese" issue as well as crime in general

-What action Griffith supports taking in regards to Fair Park and Reunion Arena

-Why he believes in permanent housing for the homeless

-Whether red light cameras cause or prevent accidents

-How he intends to bridge the gap between City Hall and DISD

-His take on public transportation in Dallas

-Whether the Mavs will win 70 games

-and much more

We're inviting all local candidates in the May election to come in for interviews. If you want to take us up on that, drop us a line.

Hey Mike, Not sure what happened there. I'm gonna try re-uploading the video. It should be working in a few minutes.

I just heard the full interview.

I'm not trying to hate, but he totally sat on the fence and hedged on my question about voting not to support to use funds from the community

development block grants (about minute 19 of Alan's interview). To correct Griffith, CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) funds ARE used in construction and development. This is evidenced from Frazier Courts' current redevelopment in South Dallas, Victoria Courts in San Antonio, and others.

So he's wrong right there.

That's NOT what I want from my future Mayor. If you're against it, just say it and address it. Don't pander, and don't be a fence-sitter. He probably never thought someone would go back and look at it.

I'm on the board that had to fight for that project as it was in the District that I represent (District 8), and I know what went down. I look at past votes, and that's one of the reasons I wouldn't vote for this guy. I just picked that particular vote.

Allen Gwinn already told you that he fronted on his DISD trustee...who does he plan on partnering with in the DISD. His trustee, like he said in this interview?...maybe notsomuch.

And peep his responses on DART..backpedal much?

This dude is all about studies, studies, and more studies. You've been there four years, dude! wth
