SXSW in Dallas/Fort Worth: Cheaper than the real thing!

Email Print Tell us your story Comment

If you are like me and cannot afford the time nor the costs associated with heading down to Austin for the SXSW music festival, don't despair, because you can still catch tons of SXSW bands playing at DFW venues. Being in Dallas/Fort Worth, we are in a prime position for bands that plan to get in more practice on their way to Austin, or just need a gas-money stopover. As such there are literally going to be hundreds of bands coming through and playing shows on the way to and from the capitol, for much cheaper than actually going to SXSW.

To help you out, I have put together a list of nearly 70 shows in the area that feature SXSW artists. Some criteria to remember when reading the list: 1) A show made the list if at least one band in the lineup is playing an official SXSW show, meaning that not all the artists/bands in the lineup are necessarily going to SXSW, also meaning that I did not include bands that are playing in non-SXSW showcases in Austin during the festival, and 2) I decided to arbitrarily cut the listing off at March 24, so if there is an official SXSW band playing here after the 24th, it is not on this list. Without further ado, here is the Pegasus News SXSW ala Dallas list:
