Deep Ellum’s first gallery walk was a success
Deep Ellum Gallery Walk
The Deep Ellum Enrichment Project (D.E.E.P.) hosted Deep Ellum's first gallery walk Saturday. I had no idea what to expect, what with all the chatter of Deep Ellum going down the tubes and being turned into another Uptown, blah blah, etc. etc. The turnout, much to my pleasant surprise, was amazing. That coupled with complimentary drinks and snacks made it quite the party. Scratch that, it was a par-tay. Some of the galleries were so packed you couldn't even move without bumping in to someone. If you missed this one, no worries, there are plans for more gallery walks in the near future. Keep an eye for it, we will let you know. Oh, and a little advice. Wear comfortable shoes, unless you plan on only going to one or two galleries.

Would have made this if not for the Savor Dallas business more on that later. Pawn Gallery the previous week had a nice, if not overwhelming show. I'll have to say that some of the artists were perhaps a little ambitious with the pricing. I can appreciate a large half tone as much as anyone, but really?
Yeah, the sidewalks need some work.

I agree about the ambitious pricing, although apparently the galleries still sold around 3 pieces each.

Laura thanks for the write-up. The walk was a lot of fun and we will be doing another one in the near future. Watch for other D.E.E.P events too!

We want to thank all the DEEP guys for all they are doing and for putting on this great art-walk.
In defense of our pricing, the work was from all around the world and shipping from Italy, Ireland and, especially Norway was a beat-down.
Pøbel is going to blow up and you will regret not buying his work.

Like Scott said, thanks for the write-up Laura.
We at D.E.E.P are so pleased with the way the event turned out. Everyone had fun and the galleries enjoyed the crowd and sales.
We have lots of stuff planned for the summer so keep an eye out :)
