Texas Attorney General sues three Dallas insurance companies
DALLAS Texas State Attorney General Greg Abbott filed a lawsuit against three Dallas insurance companies and one Austin company for allegedly defrauding consumers, says the a story in the Dallas Business Journal.
American Heritage Life Insurance Co., Protective Life Insurance Co., and Old United Life Insurance Co were the three local companies that failed to refund premiums to customers who paid off their vehicles ahead of schedule or otherwise terminated financing earlier than expected.
Refunds to Texas vehicle owners in these cases could reach a total of $6 million. That would amount to about $222 plus interest per person, for an estimated 27,000 Texans who purchased the coverage but did not receive refunds.
