Interview with Tom Sime, Playwright of Bloodletters
In the past, I had stated I that my Theater Spotlight would feature directors or actors, but I had to interview Tom Sime this week. Not only was he a former theater critic for the Observer and Dallas Morning News, but this week, a play he wrote, Bloodletters, is being presented as a staged reading by Wingspan Theatre Company.
So I definitely had to ask him about his take on the Dallas theater scene since he has been so involved with it, and also, about his transition from reviewing to becoming the Managing Director of Contemporary Theatre of Dallas. In addition, I wanted to know how involved he is in the rehearsal process for the staged reading of Bloodletters, how it is to give the power of his words over to a director, and ultimately, what his aim is as a writer. He also shares that later this summer, another play of his will be produced fully by Risk Theater Initiative.
Bloodletters only has two performances and tickets are pay-what-you-can. Click here for more info on the show: Bloodletters.
The Theater Spotlight will feature a theater artist every week that has an ongoing or approaching show at that time. To suggest someone for an interview, contact Shawn.
