Fossil Ridge High hires new head football coach
The Keller ISD’s Board of Trustees on Monday night approved the hiring of Tony Baccarini as the head football/men’s athletic coordinator at Fossil Ridge High School.
For the past four years, Baccarini has served as the offensive coordinator at Fossil Ridge. Baccarini has 19 years of experience as a teacher and coach at the high school and collegiate level as well as five years of head coaching experience and an additional six years as an offensive coordinator.
“We are pleased to announce that Coach Baccarini will take over at Fossil Ridge,” said Bob DeJonge, athletic director for Keller ISD. “During his years at FRHS, he has shown commitment to his students and we look forward to continued success under his leadership.”
Prior to joining Keller ISD, Baccarini served as the head coach in Brownsboro, offensive coordinator at Kilgore Junior College and special teams coordinator for Trinity Valley Community College along with stints at South Garland High School and Sulphur Springs High School under the direction of the highly recognized coach Don Poe.
Some of Baccarini’s accomplishments include football playoff appearances in 11 of the 14 years he has been in high school coaching, bowl championships in two college seasons, Texas/Oklahoma high school Oil Bowl all-star coach in 2006, West Texas High School all-star game coach in 1996, KISD Top 40 teacher award in 2004, super teacher award for two years at South Garland High School, 16 playoff appearances in various sports, and NJCAA National Champions in 1994.
Baccarini earned his B.S.E. at Stephen F. Austin with certifications in secondary professional development, mathematics and physical education. He earned his Masters degree in higher education administration with emphasis in mathematics at Texas A&M Commerce.
