UPDATED: Former Keller police officer wins city settlement after military ruined his feet
Charles Eric Richardson was honorably discharged after suffering nerve damage from wearing boots given to him that were too small. City Council expected to vote to approve an out-of-court settlement Tuesday night.
Keller City Council is expected to approve an out-of-court settlement with former police officer Charles Eric Richardson, who was permanently injured while serving in Iraq. He has been trying to get his job back.
Reports the AP: "An alternative dispute resolution summary filed in federal court last week said the case was settled after mediation nearly two weeks ago."
It is not known what the settlement amount is. Richardson was hired by the Keller Police Department in 1996, he joined the Air Force Reserve in 2001 and was ordered to Kuwait later in the year. In 2002, he was honorably discharged after suffering nerve damage from wearing boots given to him that were too small.
UPDATE: Thanks to councilman Jim Carson (in the comments below), we can now confirm that the matter was, indeed, settled.

Jim Carson, says:
I can confirm that the Keller City Council approved said settlement at its meeting last night.
We designated our city attorney as media contact for this. Boyle & Lowry, Irving (they're in the book).

Needs more background; he sued the city because they wouldn't give his cripplefeet a job?

Official statement from City Attorney:
>On March 20, 2007, the City Council unanimously voted to approve a settlement in this lawsuit in the amount of $55,000. This settlement was reached during a mediation between the parties on March 8, 2007. Mr. Richardson had sued the City last year seeking to receive his job and benefits back, along with $700,000 in back pay and compensation, along with attorneys fees. The settlement represents the City’s good faith desire to resolve a disputed claim and nothing regarding the settlement shall be construed as an admission of liability, all such liability being denied by the City. The City is certainly pleased to have this matter finally resolved and wish the best to Mr. Richardson and his family.
