Fort Worth ISD 8th grader set to compete in Geography Bee
What is the term for tremors or vibrations that sometimes follow an earthquake?
Just ask Daggett Montessori eighth grader Andrew Nelson. He’s one of a hundred semifinalists who will compete in the 2007 Texas Geographic Bee on Friday, March 30.
Fourth through eighth grade students throughout the state participated in bees at their individual schools. School-level winners took a qualifying test, which they submitted to the National Geographic Society. Students with the top 100 scores were invited to compete at the state level.
The event, sponsored by JP Morgan Chase, will be held at the Pat May Center in Bedford.
The state winner will represent Texas in the national competition at the National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C. on May 22-23. The state winner will receive $100 and a free trip to the national finals. The national winner will receive a $25,000 college scholarship.
