North Side HS students to help decide new Fort Worth ISD lunch menu

0

Release from FW ISD:

From Mexican food to seafood and even American cuisine, the Fort Worth ISD is exploring some interesting selections for school cafeterias - and some lucky students will put their taste buds to the test as they vote on meal choices for the upcoming school year.

At least 20 North Side High School students will let the District’s Nutrition Services Department know what food choices tantalize their taste palates.

“We work on making sure the food is nutritious but we also want to make sure it tastes good to our students,” said Phyllis Propes, director of FWISD’s Child Nutrition Services.

Students will taste a variety of food items including: taquitos, pizza, burritos, fish scroddle, breaded beef patties and a new menu item – the pepperoni calzone.

Each student will give a grade on the variety of food items. The information will be recorded and taken into account by Child Nutrition Services as they finalize next year’s school menu.

I like the idea, but does anyone know what fish scroddle really is? I know what it is, but - honestly, what the hell is it? You never see scroddle anywhere except school cafeteria menus. Scrod, I can give you. Maybe. I still think that one is too vague. But I still might give it to you if the mood is right.
