Police looking for attempted murder suspect

Carlos Humberto Alvarenga attacked his wife in Carrollton Friday night with a large knife. He fled with their 3-year-old son, who was later found alone, and she is in the hospital.

Passing along this release from the Carrollton Police Department:

On March 24, 2007 at approximately 8:15 AM Carrollton Police and Fire Personnel were dispatched to a disturbance at 1836 School Rd. in Carrollton. The preliminary investigation revealed that there was a domestic disturbance at the location between a husband and wife. During the disturbance the husband attacked his wife with a large knife causing serious bodily injury. The victim was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas and her condition is unknown at this time. The suspect fled the scene in a white Tacoma pickup truck with a lowered suspension. Both parties reside in Dallas. The suspect also has his three year old son with him.

Suspect Information: Carlos Humberto Alvarenga

Hispanic male

5’1” – 125 lbs. Black hair & Brown eyes

29 years old

Alvarenga is driving a 1998 white Toyota Tacoma Pick up truck license plate # 27KNS3. The truck has a lowered suspension and chrome wheels.

UPDATED: About 6 p.m. Saturday, the child was located at a McDonald’s Restaurant at 632 S. R.L. Thornton Freeway in Dallas. Carlos Humberto Alvarenga was not there and remains at large. The child appears to be in good health and will be released to the custody of Child Protective Services.
