Dallas gets nod for outreach to minority- and women-owned businesses
DALLAS Dallas' Business Development and Procurement Services department has been recognized for increasing opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses to do business with the City of Dallas.
The department’s efforts, including creating a community outreach program, earned it a Public Sector Partner Award from the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
"We created the Community Outreach Liaison Program in 2001 to establish a strong partnership between the city and the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce," said Mark Duebner, Director of Business Development and Procurement Services. "The program has helped us increase opportunities for minorities and women, by focusing on community outreach, education, awareness, and minority business certification."
The city is expanding its community outreach efforts, to include partnerships with the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce; American Indian Chamber of Commerce; Dallas Black Chamber; Dallas North East Chamber of Commerce; DFW African Chamber of Commerce; DFW Native American Chamber of Commerce; Greater Dallas Chamber; North Dallas Chamber of Commerce; North TX GLBT Chamber of Commerce; Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce; Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce; West Dallas Chamber of Commerce; Asian Contractors Association; Black Contractors Association; Hispanic Contractors Association; QUOIN (Association of General Contractors); DFW Minority Business Development Council; North Central Regional Certification Agency; Women’s Business Council- Southwest; and the Bill J. Priest Institute.
