PLANO Enfora, Inc., today announced GTX Corporation’s adoption of the Enabler IIG-A-GPS embedded wireless and location module into its latest model of the GTXC Xplorer GPS Smart Shoe, which is designed to monitor the whereabouts of loved ones.
GTXC’s Xplorer GPS Smart Shoe continuously tracks location and movement history. The information is relayed to a monitoring center through cellular networks using a secure Internet interface. Subscribers are able to instantly log-on, or receive alerts, and pinpoint the current location of the targeted user on an interactive map.
“We are seeing more consumer demand for personal tracking and location applications driving the market,” said Jeff Newman, chief strategy officer at Enfora. “Working with GTXC is a great collaboration effort that not only focuses on an innovative product – Xplorer GPS Smart Shoe – but also meets a very functional need within society.”
Based in Plano, Texas, Enfora is an experienced developer of wireless M2M modules and platforms that accelerate the time-to-market of tracking, location and remote-monitoring solutions.

It's much cheaper to put an RFID chip into their cornflakes one morning. Just ask my wife... now I know every time she steps into a Wal-Mart.

What they don't tell you is how insecure RFID technology is. Anyone with the right equipment could track people wearing these shoes.
