UPDATED: Keller man who murdered wife sentenced to 40 years in prison
Police have found the dead body of Donna Sandlin, a 47 year-old Keller woman that was reported missing on Monday. Her husband confessed to murder and told police where they could find the body.
UPDATE: Here is the official detailed release from the Keller Police Department:
On March 26, 2007 Donna Sandlin a resident of Keller was reported missing at approximately 8:00 a.m. by her daughter. Donna Sandlin was supposed to report to Fossil Ridge High School at 5:45 a.m. where she is employed as a counseling aide.
On March 26, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Donna’s vehicle a dark green Toyota Land Cruiser was found in a strip center parking lot located in the 800 block of S. Main. Police Officers searched the wooded area west of the strip center.
On March 27, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. Officers went back to the wooded area during day light hours to search again. Again the search revealed no evidence. Officers began checking cell phone and credit card records. Officers began interviewing family and friends.
On March 27, 2007 at approximately 2:04 p.m. Officers used search and rescue dogs to search the wooded area west of where the vehicle was located. The search revealed no evidence.
On March 27, 2007, a search and seizure warrant was issued for evidentiary purposes for vehicles belonging to the Sandlin’s and their home located at 1403 Briar Meadow Lane in Keller.
On March 27, 2007 at approximately 9:40 a.m. Richard Sandlin, 47 years old confessed orally and in written form to the murder of his wife. Sandlin also gave officers directions to where the body could be located.
On March 28, 2007 at approximately 1:10 a.m. Officers in McClendon County discovered a body of a female believed to be Donna Sandlin in Valley Mills (outside of Waco). The body will be transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiners Office for positive identification.
On March 28, 2007 at approximately 2:18 a.m. an arrest warrant was signed for the arrest of Richard Sandlin. Sandlin has been arrested for the murder of his wife Donna Sandlin. Bond has been set at $150,000.
UPDATE 2: Sandlin was having an affair with some woman in Denver.
UPDATE 3: Police now believe that Sandlin strangled his wife with a shoe string.
UPDATE 4: Sandlin pleaded guilty this week and was sentenced to 40 years in prison, of which he'll have to serve at least 20 years before he's eligible for parole.
