Carroll Senior High cheerleaders’ parents return misused funds
Back in February, a party was held for the Carroll Senior High cheerleading squad, paid for with money raised by the 21 members. One problem (well, there are several, but bear with me), only 11 members of the squad were invited to this exclusive soirée at Timarron Country Club in Southlake. And the parents of the other ten girls? Well, they're pissed, as was Carroll superintendent David Faltys, who demanded the full $886 and receipts for purchases be returned no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday.
So all is back to what it was. The cheerleading squad has its money back and the parents of the 11 girls are still &%$*ing crazy.

You have to be kidding! We are relocating to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I've been searching communities that best fit our family. Southlake was standing out as a top notch family community. No way will I relocate my daughter who is a cheerleader to Southlake. What is it with Texas Moms and Texas cheerleaders! Here in GA, the mean girls don't try out because the school doesn't put up with their crap! From everything I've read, it's more the parents than the girls! Parents fighting at the games. Exclusive cheer parties for only a few of the girls..... Wow. If this is what Texas' finest has to offer, I feel sorry for my kids. Looks like private school for us!

Yep - Texas kinda has the lock on whacked sports/cheer parents. I think if we had a stronger film industry they'd all be stage parents and mandatory sterilization for that is well accepted. But sports as a glamor industry is running ahead of established legislation.
One possible suggestion: If the activity itself is the most important thing, then find a losing school to attend. Less visibility means less contention.
But that ain't gonna happen, now is it?

Not sure where you're going to be working, but if it's in Dallas...did you not pay attention to where Southlake is? That 'commute' toes the line of roadtrip, imo - especially since I-35 southbound in the morning is god-awful.
Also, asking people on here the best place to live in DFW is awesome bait-material. I highly support it.

Yep, I hear South Oak Cliff has a great program!
BTW, the attitude of these parents and young women is far from isolated. The potential to misbehave is always there and manifests itself in plenty of ways. Let us not assume the entire state of Georgia is somehow immune to high school girls acting like idiots.
The cheerleaders in GA may be too busy to be mean, spending so much time sexting their boyfriends and all.

Or may not even remember uninviting the rest of the squad to the swanky soiree, seeing as they were drunk on the field...

As a parent of a soon to be cheerleader, the one thing that worries me is the whole attitude that develops around cheerleaders and those involved in athletics. It is as if these few are somehow better than the rest of the students simply because they participate in sports. The only thing that assuages my fear of my own child becoming some snotty inconsiderate monster are what Jason said and my own readiness to remove her from cheer leading if I EVER see that behavior manifest itself. Not to mention the Center Point High School football team is in an extremely tough division, which means the kids have more fun and worry less about winning. Perhaps it is accepting one's fate, but it might just keep them from thinking their pom poms were a gift from gawd.

Not so. We all agree to a 5 mile DMZ around ScoDo's apartment.
And we ALL saw x*x claim to actually enjoy himself/prefer a bar in Plano...
But, yeah, it's been a long time between zipcode baits

Oh, Trav... a cheerleader? Man, wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy (which of course, you have proverbial first dibs on).
Yes the sports/glam thin just trounces my logic. So, budding cheer-dad, help me with this. So what exact skills does this stuff give this class of Eloi to get ahead in a global market? They get used to breaking rules and lording things over peoples' heads and that prepares them for local government and maybe national sitcoms?

Let's see...between Girl Scouts, volleyball, cheer leading, and anything else she wants to do, it all looks good on a transcript. When she goes looking for college scholarships it pays off to be actively involved in school and other organizations. Heck, I might actually have some retirement money left over when it is all said and done, but I aint holding my breath.
