WaterTower Theatre announces 2007-2008 season
Theater company offering everything from Shakespeare to trailer parks next year.
The Addison-based theater company, WaterTower Theatre, has just released info for its 2007-2008 season, and it looks like a great variety of crowd-pleasers:
- The Great American Trailer Park Musical, which was a hit at this year's Out of the Loop Festival, will start off the season from September 27 – October 21, 2007.
- Rockin’ Christmas Party is the company's holiday show (not part of the mainstage production) as 6 of the hippest performers and a swingin’ live band “rock around the Christmas tree" and groove to Top 40 hits of the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. The show will run November 29 – December 23, 2007.
- As You Like It will be WaterTower's first Shakespearean production and will run January 17 – February 10, 2008.
- The annual Out of the Loop Festival will be held from March 1-11, 2008 featuring plays from all different theater companies in the three different spaces at Addison Theatre Center.
- The Foreigner, a hilarious comedy, will be held April 3 – 27, 2008 about Charlie Baker who is pathologically shy. He travels to a remote fishing lodge in rural Georgia and poses as a foreigner who can neither speak nor understand a word of English to distance himself. The plan backfires when he becomes the confidant for the locals' secrets and schemes.
- Intimate Apparel will be the regional premiere of this piece from May 22 – June 15, 2008. It weaves together a moving and evocative portrait of one African-American woman’s search for love at the beginning of the 20th Century.
- A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum ends the season from July 17 – August 10, 2008. It is the Stephen Sondheim musical about a wily slave who schemes, cajoles and manipulates all of ancient Rome to win his freedom.
