UPDATED: Ransom staged by FBI at Dallas Wal-Mart goes bad; kidnapper shot
Updated 03:21 p.m., May 8, 2007
DALLAS Between the kidnapping, the ransom drop-off gone bad, and the meth subplot, this story sounds like an episode of Miami Vice. Amazing that it all started in Richardson, at the 600 block of Devonshire Drive. It ended at a Wal-Mart parking lot which this story accommodatingly identifies as the Wal-Mart at Interstate 30 and Cockrell Hill Road. And here's the maraschino cherry on the sundae: The store stayed open through the whole thing and the subsequent investigation. Look, it was Saturday -- biggest shopping day of the week.
UPDATE: The kidnap victim has been arrested along with six others in connection with a methamphetamine ring that has ties to a drug organization in Mexico.
