House of Blues Dallas Restaurant opens on Tuesday

"Southern-inspired" menu includes New Orleans dishes we know all about here in Dallas.

— The House of Blues Dallas Restaurant opens on Tuesday, serving lunch, dinner, and its famous Sunday gospel brunch.

The cuisine is described as "Southern-inspired," with dishes such as voodoo shrimp, Tennessee baby back ribs with mashed sweet potatoes, Creole jambalaya, catfish nuggets and fries, and po' boy sandwiches.

But the big thing here is the fact that there is live blues music nightly, with a seating capacity of around 300. (The main hall has a capacity of 1,625, and the "Cambridge Room" accommodates 400.) The acts playing at the restaurant stage will be mostly local and regional blues bands such as Anson Funderburgh, who will play on opening night. If there's an act you want to see without waiting in line, you can bypass that and get in instantly by having dinner there. People also consistently tout the drinks.

The Sunday brunch is an all-you-can-eat buffet that starts at 1 p.m.; it's $35 for adults and $18.50 for kids, yikes.

If the Gospel Brunch here is anything like the HOB in New Orleans, then it gets 5 hallelujahs.

Oh, wait... this is Dallas... ;-)

Well, TG, this item appears to be a yawner. Might be, however, that everyone is just waiting to check the place out before making a comment.

In the meantime, bloggers, go to TG's May 3 report and say nice, nice things to twisted dog so that he will give us his report on Olivello's pizza.

What do you think?
