UPDATED: First Lady Laura Bush speaks at UT Arlington 2007 Commencement Celebration
First Lady Laura Bush spoke at the UT Arlington 2007 Commencement Celebration this past Friday, May 11 at 8:00 pm at Maverick Stadium.
Standing before the 6,000-plus crowd, Mrs. Bush urged graduating students to use their education and talents to serve others.
“Keep these commitments to others now that you’ve graduated,” she said. “There are so many people who need your help.”
The Graduation Celebration is a tradition at UTA that allows the entire community to celebrate the achievements of each year's graduating class.
The program included a performance by the UT Arlington Festival Band, a ceremonial firing of the Carlisle Cannons, a Texas-sized fireworks show, and brief remarks by UT Arlington administrators and other dignitaries. Enter Mrs. Bush.
