Charles E. Nash Elementary School will be formally recognized as one of the Texas Business and Education Coalition's (TBEC) Honor Roll schools during an afternoon ceremony on Friday, May 11th.

On a roll, indeed.

On a roll, indeed.

Nash Elementary is one of only 270 public schools across the state that earned recognition on the 2006 TBEC Honor Roll.

"Nash is the little crown jewel of the city of Fort Worth and Fort Worth ISD," says Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Melody Johnson. "To have such a wonderful, exemplary elementary school in the heart of our city is a treasure. It speaks to that which the community values and holds dear - a high quality education and a belief that it is the right and the possibility for ALL of Fort Worth's children. We are extraordinarily proud to be counted among Texas' finest."

"Schools get on our Honor Roll the old fashioned way," says Jack Lowe, Chairman of TD Industries in Dallas and TBEC's Business Co-chairperson. "They earn it. For us the bottom-line is results. These schools help all students do well in all subjects."

TBEC identifies the Honor Roll schools by analyzing three years of performance data for all Texas public schools. A school must have a high percentage of students meeting state standards on the TAKS tests in all subjects for three consecutive years, with an emphasis on how many students score at the state's highest standard - commended - on all tests. Selection criteria account also for each school's student demographics, the number of subjects tested and the grades served.

"We are incredibly pleased to be named to the TBEC Honor Roll," says Nash Principal Pamela Day. "The teachers, staff and students at Nash Elementary have dedicated themselves to succeeding, and their effort shows every day."
