Fort Worth-based Buxton plans to double office space to accommodate 100 new employees

— Fort Worth-based Buxton is more than doubling its current office space to accommodate at least 100 new employees.

The company hired 51 additional employees in 2006 and expects to continue this hiring trend in upcoming years. Buxton currently employs about 100 people, the majority of whom work in technical positions. The new employees will hold positions in market research/statistical analysis, information technology and sales.

Buxton, the leader in customer analytics for the retail industry, will expand its headquarters facility by 125 percent. The building is located in north Fort Worth off of Meacham Blvd. At 25,000 square feet, the addition will be larger than the 20,000-square-foot existing facility.

“We are long overdue for an expansion,” says Tom Buxton, who founded the company in 1994, after a 20-year career at Tandy/RadioShack. “We built our current office building in 2001, and in just six years, we have outgrown it.”

The additional office space is being designed by Gideon Toal, the Fort Worth architecture firm that designed the existing Buxton facility. Buxton’s unique interior features an open-concept office space, where all executives, including Tom Buxton, share a wall-less environment. The space facilitates communication, teamwork and problem-solving.

The addition, to be completed by early 2008, will contain office space for about 100 people as well as more space for Buxton’s extensive computer databases, client presentation rooms (a high-tech media presentation room and an amphitheater for company-wide meetings) and a full-service kitchen. It will also feature a courtyard and outdoor dining spaces.

Buxton provides in-depth customer analytic data to clients, mainly retailers, cities and developers, who need this information to make better decisions about what products to sell and where to locate their businesses. In recent years, Buxton has expanded its service offerings to provide customer data, site-selection information, and product market research to healthcare organizations and consumer packaged goods manufacturers. Current clients include retailers such as Goodyear, Tommy Bahama, McCormick & Schmick's and Pendleton Woolen Mills; healthcare organizations such as Concentra; and municipal governments including Denton, TX; Hesperia, CA; South Bend, IN; and West Plains, MO.
