Fort Worth ISD to reward perfect attendance with cars, cameras, etc.

[Babe not necessarily included]

In an odd piece of news, it seems coming to class regularly actually pays off.

I had perfect attendance once in middle school. I got a certificate. That is all.
I had perfect attendance once in middle school. I got a certificate. That is all.

On Monday, May 21st, more than 3,000 Fort Worth ISD high school and middle school students with perfect attendance will be rewarded for their persistent punctuality.

"The Perfect Attendance Blowout," as it's called, will be held at Will Rogers Coliseum. Students' names will be drawn randomly for a variety of prizes, from computers to camcorders to even cars.

The Blowout is part of the Fort Worth ISD's Every Child in School Every Day campaign, which gives incentives to students who dedicate themselves to perfect attendance throughout the school year.

For the 3,144 students who are eligible for the drawings, prizes will include:

  • Two (2) cars (from Frank Kent Motor Company and Longhorn Dodge) [high school students only]
  • Four (4) $1,000 Pier 1 Kids Shopping Sprees - [middle school students only]
  • Six (6) Dell Computers and printers - [high school and middle school students]
  • Two (2) iPods & two (2) digital camcorders from Radio Shack - [high school and middle school students]
  • One (1) iPod from Gene's Charters - [high school and middle school students]
  • Gift Certificates, party packs, tickets, games and supplies from restaurants and retailers including Charleston's, Baja Fresh, Putt Putt, Medieval Times, Corporate Express, Fort Worth Billiard Supply, and Mimi's - [high school and middle school students]
