Former mayoral candidate Gary Griffith has endorsed Tom Leppert for the Dallas mayoral runoff. Griffith wrote a letter to voters expressing his support of Leppert that has now been posted on Tom Leppert's campaign website. Here is the letter:
After careful consideration, I have decided to endorse Tom Leppert for Mayor of Dallas.
On the campaign trail leading up to last Saturday's general election, Tom always exhibited the leadership skills and principled character that will best benefit all of Dallas. I respected Tom's command of the issues, I appreciated his collegiality, and I admired his statesmanship.
After conferring at length with Tom on Thursday -- and sharing with him the priorities you helped build into my campaign -- our choice is clear: Tom Leppert is Dallas' best candidate for mayor.
I believe that our schools are one of Dallas' biggest challenges. Tom was the only candidate to join me in making public education a top issue for our city.
I also believe Tom will proudly represent our city to the world, selflessly serve the citizens, and bring a fresh set of eyes where needed at City Hall.
Please join me in support of Tom Leppert as the next mayor of Dallas.
You can demonstrate your support right now. Visit www.tomleppert.com, sign up in support, get on Tom's e-mail list, and don't forget to vote on June 16.
-- Gary Griffith

That was predictable. The one thing Leppert and Griffith had in common more than anything else was their anti-gay vitriol.
And since Oakley isn't likely to start any new anti-gay campaigns, those two bigots could never support HIM.
The GOOD NEWS is that the gay community in Dallas is going to turn out in DROVES for the run-off election.
I talked to one homosexual PAC in North Dallas and, besides their membership of about two-dozen, they're bringing partners and family members and anyone else they can to the polls with them.
Even better news - several formerly political evangelicals groups in Dallas are now preaching "political abstinence" - in the wake of their experiences with the Republican Party.
