NASCAR stars teach DISD students about safe driving

"Uh, yeah, thanks a lot for coming out, Nathan Petrelli."
"Uh, yeah, thanks a lot for coming out, Nathan Petrelli."

NASCAR pilots David Ragan and David Starr talked to students on separate occasions to share safe-driving techniques with them.

Ragan visited students in the automobile technology program at W.H. Adamson High School and used his NEXTEL Cup race car to explain how the same techniques and preparation he displays on the track can translate into how teens approach their own experiences behind the wheel. He also discussed with them career opportunities in the auto industry.

Starr, the top-ranked NASCAR Craftsman Series competitor, raced his truck on Marilla Street to promote the Safe Driving SafeLight Campaign to reduce the number of accidents due to running red lights. In front of City Hall, Dallas ISD students signed pledges to stop for red lights and encourage their families and friends to do the same.

The students received a poster autographed by Starr, which they either sold on eBay or threw into the trash.
