Zane Reeves, head boys track coach at Duncanville High, to retire

Athletic Director Kevin Ozee announced that a member of the Panther coaching staff, Sedrick Love, has been named as Reeves' replacement.

“Coach Love, a tireless worker with a big heart for kids, has been coaching 15 years with 10 of those in Duncanville. His passion for coaching and helping kids will continue to benefit Duncanville ISD. The rapport he has with the kids is phenomenal and he serves as a tremendous mentor to our student-athletes,” Ozee said.

Love had previously coached at Irving MacArthur, the University of North Texas and Lubbock Coronado High.

He was selected by his peers as the DHS Assistant Coach of the Year for 2005-06.

Reeves began his teaching career in Bovina in 1972, where he coached four sports.

He became head basketball coach in 1973, a position he held for 18 seasons and won 327 games. His first district championship was in 1974.

Moving on to Dalhart, he coached basketball, football and girls track three years, winning three district titles in basketball and one in girls track.

Continuing to coach basketball, football and track at Hamlin, he won three regional track titles and one district basketball championship.

Reeves came to Duncanville in 1993, became head track coach in 1994 and has won a state championship in 2000, second in state in 2002, seven district championships and two regional crowns.

He was named Coach of the Year by The Dallas Morning News in 2000 .

“I coach and teach as though someone might catch a dream from me,” Reeves said.
