Garland High School makes Newsweek‘s list of top public high schools
Newsweek magazine has released its annual ranking of high schools across the country.
Coming in at #350 is Garland's Garland High School.
According to Newsweek, the rankings are based on "the number of Advanced Placement, Intl. Baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at a school in 2006 divided by the number of graduating seniors."

Newsweek gauges the best school based on just a couple of standardized tests, eh?
Garland Schools has a very effective strategy for winning such awards. When young kids drop out, they don't charge them with truancy, nor do they charge the parents with neglect.
They just thank God and the state treasurer that the loss of those students artificially raises the overall average test scores.
