Dallas mayoral debate to air May 31
DALLAS Dallas mayoral candidates Tom Leppert and Ed Oakley will face off on the major issues of this year’s mayoral race in a live 30-minute debate scheduled for Thursday, May 31. The debate – moderated by CBS 11 News Anchor and Managing Editor Tracy Rowlett – is part of an hour-long election special co-sponsored by TXA 21, CBS 11 and KERA.
The special will begin at 8 p.m. with the half-hour forum, then continue with a panel discussion about the challenges facing the two candidates in the remaining days of the campaign. KERA’s Sam Baker will anchor the discussion with political analysts Jim Washington of the Dallas Weekly and Scott Bennett, an editor at dallasblog.com.
Baker and TXA 21 News Anchor Tracy Kornet will conclude the coverage by interviewing communications consultant Lisa LeMaster on the candidates' presentation styles and how voter perception may be affected by them.
The program will be simulcast on TXA 21, KERA 13 and on KERA 90.1 FM and will be available for a limited time on demand to all Time Warner Cable digital customers at no additional charge. CBS 11 and KERA will both provide related election content on their Web sites at cbs11tv.com and kera.org.
